Daisy was a Thanksgiving rescue, found chained outdoors in the freezing rain. Emaciated, flea-infested, heartworm positive and unspayed, this poor girl has a long road ahead of her. She has gained 8 ½ lbs. in the past 5 weeks so it won’t be long before she’s healthy enough to undergo HW treatment. After she successfully completes treatment and has some time to recover, she will be spayed and then will be available for adoption. Daisy is a Boxer/BT mix, about 2 years old, and sweet as can be with people. Older kids would be best, as she can be a bit exuberant (remember, she’s part Boxer). She displays dominant behavior with other dogs, especially other females, so a home with a submissive male(s) or no other dogs is advisable. Daisy will be about 30-32 lbs at her ideal weight and she stands a bit taller than a Boston Terrier. She’s a super wiggly, playful girl who can also settle down nicely. She loves smoked bones and other hard chews, but she also enjoys snuggling with her Tuffy sheep toy. Given her emaciated state when she was rescued, it’s no surprise that she is protective of her food, especially around other dogs, so she is fed in her crate with the door closed and that seems to suit her just fine. She’s currently thriving on a raw diet, though she also does well on premium grain-free kibble. She loves treats and mealtime, attention, soft blankets and belly rubs, and all she wants is a home and family of her own.
